Trek to the rim of Erta Ale — one of the few permanent lava lakes on Earth.

   Mekele → Erta Ale Base

   Day 1

   Drive to base camp. Rest during heat. Evening briefing.

   Erta Ale Crater Rim

   Day 2

   Night hike to the crater rim. Watch the lava lake under the stars. Sleep at the rim.

   Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerErta Ale Rim Camp

   Erta Ale → Mekele

   Day 3

   Dawn descent. Drive back to Mekele. Flight to Addis.
