   Addis → Mekele → Hamedela

   Day 1

   Fly to Mekele. Afternoon drive to Hamedela with Afar guide. Camp overnight.

   Dallol & Lake Asale

   Day 2

   Dawn visit to Dallol sulfur springs. Afternoon at Lake Asale salt flats with camel caravans. Sunset photography.

   Erta Ale Base Camp

   Day 3

   Drive to Erta Ale base. Rest during the heat. Evening hike to crater rim with headlamps for the lava lake.

   Day 4

   Dawn descent from crater. Drive back to Hamedela. Rest and recover.
